Windsor schools were closed May 16 due to lack of bus drivers.
In a statement, the Windsor Central School District said eight drivers were scheduled to be out that day and the district “cannot operate with this degree of absence.”
The district said it is in the process of training multiple new drivers as well as actively seeking to hire additional drivers.
A bus driver open house will be held at the school district’s bus garage, located at 206 Main St., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 17.
The starting salary for new drivers with no experience will increase from $19.50 to $20.50 on July 1. The job includes benefits.
Due to the closure, the last day of classes for grades UPK-8 has been moved to June 24.
