Door County's 2025 farmers market season is about to start. Here's what you need to know

It’s as local as shopping gets, and it’s about to get started in Door County – the 2025 farmers market season.

Residents and visitors in Door County can find a farmers market taking place six days a week in eight different communities from Sturgeon Bay to Washington Island, starting in mid-May and running into October. Two of them open the week before Memorial Day, two others right after the Memorial Day weekend and the rest by the middle of June, and one is making major changes with a new day, time and location.

That means by the time the Peninsula’s tourist season is in full swing, shoppers can head out every day except Friday, including two evenings, to find fresh produce and other food products grown and made locally, health and body care products, and arts and crafts. As with any farmers market, remember that some produce items and plants may not be available or in peak condition throughout the entire season, depending on the prime growing season for those items.

Here’s what you need to know about the eight markets taking place in Door County in the summer of 2025.

Sundays

Baileys Harbor: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 18 through Oct. 5, Town Hall, 2392 County F

The Baileys Harbor Community Association opens the farmers market season with their outdoor, rain or shine, market on the lawn outside Town Hall.

According to the community association’s website, more than 80 vendors are expected to bring their wares to the Baileys Harbor Farmers Market to offer produce, plants, baked goods, sauces and condiments, jewelry, art and clothing.

For more information, call 920-839-2366 or visit baileysharbor.com/events or facebook.com/BaileysHarbor.

Mondays

Ephraim: 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., June 16 through Aug. 25, The Red Putter Mini Golf, 10404 Water St. (State 42)

This marks the third year the Ephraim Business Council is sponsoring a Bondemarked (Norwegian for “farmers market” in a nod to the village’s heritage) in the green spaces around one of Door County’s best-known miniature golf courses. Also as in its first two seasons, it’ll run in conjunction with the village’s Evenings in Ephraim concert series from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays at Harborside Park. Shoppers can expect to find arts and craft items along with food products.

Tuesdays

Jacksonport: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., May 20 through Oct. 14, Lakeside Park, off State 57

More than 30 vendors plan to be on hand each Tuesday for the 18th year of the Jacksonport Farmers Market, held rain or shine next to the Lake Michigan shoreline in Lakeside Park (6296 Lake Park Drive, Sturgeon Bay, for those using GPS to find it).

A variety of fresh and prepared food items from local producers will be available. On the produce and plant side, expect to find locally grown fruits and vegetables, flowers, bedding, garden plants, microgreens and native perennials, with the exact types varying with its growing seasons.

Other foods that will be for sale include meats and sandwiches from Door County Custom Meats, organic smoothies and acai bowls and protein energy snacks from the new Fuel Good food truck, fresh Door County whitefish, fresh baked goods, smoked fish, cheeses, eggs, and a variety of jams and jellies.

Area artists and craftspeople will showcase a variety of handcrafted Door County gifts, fine art photography, accessories, purses, pillows, jewelry, clothing, and wood art and products. Among the home and body goods will be handmade soaps, candles and children’s books. A new vendor this year is Shoreline Boat Tours, which will have an information booth on hand.

Entertainment during the markets will be provided by local musicians Tom Faella on accordion and Scott Riedasch on guitar, who will perform on alternate weeks, along with “Polka Man” Dale Graf and his accordion.

For more information, call Sue Jarosh of the Jacksonport Area Business Association at 920-839-5253 or visit the “Jacksonport Farmer’s Market” Facebook page.

Wednesdays

Fish Creek: 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., May 28 through Oct. 15 (weather permitting), on the grounds of Settlement Shops, 9106 State 42, Fish Creek

About 15 vendors will be on hand each week outside the shops at Settlement Shops with their supplies of plants, produce, other foods and handmade items, all farmed or created locally. Also, the shops surrounding the marketplace will be open. Live music is scheduled for many weeks, with the sounds of jazz, classical and classic favorites accompanying vendors and shoppers.

New this year, lunch will be available with spring rolls, egg rolls and pork skewers for sale.

To help kick off the market, Settlement Shops also hosts its annual plant sale from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (or until sellout) the Saturday before the season opens, May 24, with plant vendors from across the Peninsula.

For more information, call 920-421-2115 or visit settlementshopsfishcreek.com/farmers-market or the “Settlement Farmers Market” Facebook page.

Thursdays

Egg Harbor: 4 p.m. June 12 through Aug. 28, Peg Egan Performing Arts Center, 7840 Church St.

It’s a lot of change in 2025 for the Egg Harbor Business Association’s farmers market. There’s the new “Rhythm & Roots Marketplace” name, the change from Fridays to Thursdays, from daytime to afternoon/evening, and from the parking lot of Hatch Distilling Co. to the spacious outdoor Peg Egan Performing Arts Center in Eames Cherry View Park with plenty of parking and accessible restrooms. The PAC is reserved for other events July 10 and Aug. 28, but the market will take place on the lawn of the adjacent Kress Pavilion.

And, like Ephraim is doing with its Bondemarked, Egg Harbor’s market is being held in conjunction with the village’s free Concerts in the Park series, with performances starting at 5 p.m. at nearby Harbor View Park.

Saturdays

Sturgeon Bay: 8 a.m. to noon, May 31 through Oct. 11, South Third Avenue and Nebraska Street.

Sponsored by Destination Sturgeon Bay, the Sturgeon Bay Farmers Market brings more than 80 vendors to South Third Avenue between Michigan and Nebraska streets. Parking is available in the lot behind the buildings on the east side of South Third, and there are several municipal lots and street parking within reasonable walking distance.

The market offers a wide variety of goods grown or made locally or in the region: plants and flowers, produce, baked goods, meats, specialty foods, clothing and accessories, home accessories and yard art. Several vendors accept FoodShare tokens.

A variety of bands and musicians will provide live music from the corner of Third and Nebraska, and shoppers also can take part in a yoga session at 9:30 a.m. each week at Graham Park ($10).

Sister Bay: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 14 through Oct. 4, Corner of the Past Museum, 10310 Fieldcrest Road

Sponsored by the Sister Bay Historical Society at its museum, the weekly market, now called Open Aire Market, has local farmers and vendors provide locally grown farm products; freshly baked breads, pastries and treats; and locally made art, books and crafts. The historical society also will offer merchandise including vintage toys, and local artisans will give Heritage Program demonstrations in the Koessl Barn during markets in July and August. Local musicians also will perform for the markets.

Washington Island: 9 a.m. to noon, June 14 through Oct. 18, just south of KK Fiske, 1177 Main Road (look for signs and tents)

It’s the ninth summer for this famers market sponsored by Gathering Ground, an Island-based nonprofit organization that focuses on sustainable agriculture education and connecting the community to farmers with programs at its on its 30-acre farm. As in recent years, the market will be located in the green space next to KK Fiske Restaurant.

Many of the dozen or so vendors for this market hail from the Island or have some connection to it. Along with farm produce, shoppers can find jewelry, body care products and more, and the Hotel Washington will offer coffees and baked goods. KK Fiske will be open during the market, too.
