Traffic signals coming to Indiana 66 and Grimm Road near Newburgh in May

EVANSVILLE — Beginning on or around May 21, Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) crews will install traffic signals at the intersection of Indiana 66 and Grimm Road near Newburgh.”These traffic signals will be installed on previously installed equipment at this intersection,” states an INDOT announcement. “Once installed, the new signal will flash yellow for three days on State Road 66 with a red flash on Grimm Road.

“Following this period, the intersection will operate in a normal green, yellow, and red light operation.”Crews had installed temporary traffic signals during installation of a displaced left turn intersection at 66 and Epworth Road to “to increase safety and mobility due to the heavy construction presence,” INDOT’s announcement said. The temporary signals were removed after the displaced left turn intersection was completed.INDOT said crews have closely monitored the intersection at Grimm Road, given the traffic change associated with the new intersection at Epworth Road. The state agency decided a traffic signal was warranted.
