Did someone say rain?
In Florida?
Dig out that umbrella, because many areas across the Sunshine State could see “waves” of thunderstorms over the next few days. Some places could see up to 8 inches and there’s even a low chance of localized rainfall of 10 to 15 inches falling in Northeast Florida.

Yes, we said days, and yes, we said rainfall over the next several days that could hit 5-7 inches, 8 inches, and even 10 to 15 inches.
AccuWeather, the National Weather Service and the Florida Department of Emergency Management are predicting multiple days of rainfall, with heavy downpours possible.
Although too much of a good thing is never a …. good thing … the forecast comes when 82% of Florida is suffering from drought conditions ranging from moderate to extreme.

Will it rain in Florida?
“An uptick in moisture from the Atlantic and Gulf, as well as the proximity of a front, will fuel thunderstorms over the Florida Peninsula over the next few days,” AccuWeather said May 7. “Some of the storms may become strong enough to bring strong wind gusts, hail and flooding downpours.”
Look for an “active weather pattern” in Florida, with “multiple days of rainfall and instances of heavy downpours possible,” the Florida Department of Emergency Management said May 7 in its five-day outlook.
How much rain can Florida expect?
Widespread rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches can be expected across the state into the weekend, with the highest totals over the Panhandle and into North Florida, according to the Florida Department of Emergency Management.
Locally higher totals upwards of 4 to 6 inches may be possible with repeated rounds of rainfall through the next few days.
Where will it rain in Florida?
The Florida Department of Emergency Management said repeated days of rain could fall this week across the Panhandle and North Florida, with some locally strong to severe thunderstorms.
There is a potential for strong to severe thunderstorms to develop across the Panhandle and Big Bend Friday and possibly Saturday. “Heavy rainfall can be anticipated.”
The Weather Prediction Center is forecasting a marginal risk (level 1 of 4) for flash flooding across North Florida for Friday, then expanding toward the Interstate 4 corridor on Saturday. Multiple days of rainfall could increase the potential for localized flooding and ponding of water.
