A Rochester man is facing several felonies in connection with a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a 12-year-old boy in April.
The boy was riding an electric scooter south on Bauman Street when he was struck by a car where Bauman Street and Avenue D intersect around 12:30 a.m. on April 16, said Capt. Greg Bello of the Rochester Police Department.
The boy failed to stop before entering the intersection and was struck by a westbound sedan, Bello said. The driver stopped briefly, allegedly yelled at the boy and the boy’s father, before fleeing the scene.
The boy, who was not identified by police, was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious, life-altering injuries, Bello said.
Police later located the suspect car in a parking lot on Lexington Avenue in Rochester.
Terry Britt, 42, of Rochester was apprehended Tuesday and was charged in connection with the crash. He was charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, a felony, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operator, a misdemeanor, and unlicensed operator, a traffic infraction. Britt is scheduled to answer the charges in City Court on May 21.
