PETOSKEY — Following an extensive search, Julie Joles has been selected to serve as the next executive director of Camp Daggett.
Joles, a Boyne City resident, has been involved with Camp Daggett in various capacities over the years, according to a press release from Camp Daggett. Her journey began as a camper parent and evolved into roles such as a volunteer, marketing committee member and development director.
In October 2024, she stepped in as interim executive director, and on Feb. 25, the Camp Daggett Board of Trustees unanimously voted to promote her to the position of executive director.
“We are excited to welcome Julie into this leadership role,” Tom Teske, board president, said in the press release. “Her dedication to Camp Daggett and her commitment to creating positive experiences for young people will be invaluable as we continue to grow and serve the community.”

In her new role, Joles will oversee the administration of Camp Daggett, provide leadership and implement policies and programs to further its mission. She will also be responsible for fundraising and fostering relationships with stakeholders and the broader community to support the organization’s goals.
Joles joined Camp Daggett in 2022 during a period of significant transition, as long-standing staff members retired. Since then, she has doubled both donor count and giving, introduced impactful fundraising events, expanded major giving initiatives and cultivated a donor base deeply invested in the camp’s mission, vision and values. In response to staffing transitions, Joles has taken on responsibilities in marketing, programming and leadership to ensure a seamless experience for campers, families and stakeholders.
Joles has a proven track record in program development and team management, consistently driving both financial growth and organizational transformation. Her extensive background in program development, communications and nonprofit leadership includes roles at the Petoskey News-Review, Northern Michigan Review and Mitchell Graphics.
Under her leadership, Camp Daggett will celebrate its 100th anniversary and expand its programs to reach even more youth and families in Northern Michigan.
