On this episode of Live United, Brent Gillette, Executive Director of United Way of St. Clair County speaks with the Executive Director of Mid-City Nutrition, Alice Rieves.

Mid-City Nutrition is the only full time soup kitchen in St. Clair County. The soup kitchen has been around since 1987 and are associated with the United Way of St. Clair County and F.E.M.A.

Brent talks about the E.F.S.P., Emergency Food and Shelter Program which was established in 1993 by the Federal Emergency Management System. The program was legislated through Congress for those who need food and shelter.

Alice speaks about the groundbreaking for Mid-City Nutritions’ new location on Griswold Rd, which is currently under construction. Brent and Alice also discuss the differences between the Emergency Food and Shelter Program and the United Way.
