Polka, potlucks and more — Manitowoc Senior Center, Rec Dept. unveil winter fun

MANITOWOC – From polka to Pilates, the Manitowoc Senior Center and Manitowoc Recreation Department have something for every age this winter. Here’s a rundown of what’s planned.

Senior Center highlights include Thanksgiving Polka & Potluck Nov. 25

The Senior Center will host a Thanksgiving Polka & Potluck on Tuesday, Nov. 25. The festivities begin at 11 a.m. with lively polka music performed by Norm Bertschy, followed by a potluck lunch at noon. Members can attend for free, while non-members are welcome for $3. Registration is required by Nov. 18, and you can sign up in person or by calling 920-686-3060.

Looking ahead, the 2025 Holiday Party promises a festive atmosphere with music from the Silver Memories Choir starting at 11 a.m. Lunch will feature meatballs and gravy, mashed potatoes, a vegetable and dessert. Members pay $5 and non-members $8. Registration and payment are due by Dec. 9; register in person or call 920-686-3060.

Blood pressure services are available every second Friday at 8:30 a.m. and every fourth Wednesday at 11 a.m. These sessions are free and open to the public, with no registration required.

At noon Friday, Nov.  21, enjoy a showing of the movie “The Crickets Dance.” Members can attend for free, while non-members may join with a day pass. Snacks will be provided by New Day Assisted Living.

The Book Club will meet at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1, to discuss “The Santa Suit” by Mary Kay Andrews. Members attend for free, and non-members can join with a day pass.

For those interested in fitness and wellness, punch cards are available for a variety of classes. Meditation will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 17 (punch card required), and Pilates classes take place at 9 a.m. every Friday (punch card required).

Finally, the Gift Shop is open 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Donations of baking supplies are appreciated to help support the center’s wish list.

Manitowoc Recreation Department opens registration for winter activities

Manitowoc Recreation Department is taking registrations for the following. Register online at https://www.manitowoc.org/25/Recreation, by phone at 920-686-3060 or in person at the Rec Office, 3330 Custer St., open 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays-Fridays.

Drop-in fitness classes are also scheduled

The following drop-in fitness classes are offered. A punch card is required but no registration is needed.
