How have Brewers' Logan Henderson, Tobias Myers, Bryan Hudson, Craig Yoho and others fared at Nashville?

Tobias Myers delivered a strong outing June 17 for the Class AAA Nashville Sounds, a reminder that he’s still capable of competing for the big-league club if called upon.

Myers worked six innings and allowed no runs on four hits, with two walks and four strikeouts, as the Sounds handled the Iowa Cubs, 9-0.

“Really don’t have a spot for him right this second,” Brewers manager Pat Murphy said June 18 in Chicago before the Brewers game with the Cubs was rained out. “We just want him to continue to progress. They measure everything today, so they can measure the stuff and all that kind of stuff. I just want to make sure that he keeps that hunger. You’ve got to be hungry to play this game and excel at this game, because this is the best of the best. (He’s got to) maintain that hunger; I’m pretty certain he will. I really like the kid.”

Myers, 26, who sparkled for the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 3 of the National League Division Series last year, hasn’t been able to keep that perch in the crowded Brewers’ starting-rotation pecking order.

After scuffling to a 4.95 ERA and 1.80 WHIP in six games for the Brewers, Myers had been hittable in Nashville, allowing 27 hits in 22 innings over his four appearances there before the most recent start. He’s also walked seven batters and struck out 22.

He’s not the only player who’s seen considerable big-league time still toiling for the Sounds. Four relievers on the Brewers’ opening-day roster — Joel Payamps, Elvis Peguero, Bryan Hudson and Elvin Rodríguez — are all pitching at Nashville, as is top prospect Logan Henderson. Here’s how they’re faring:

Logan Henderson

Henderson, 23, has been brilliant in four Brewers starts this year, with a 1.71 ERA, 3-0 record and 0.952 WHIP, and the Brewers undefeated in his four outings. He’s back in Nashville because of a numbers game with the team’s ample cadre of starting pitchers, and he’s only allowed one earned run in three outings (13⅓ innings) at Nashville.

On June 13, he allowed two runs (one earned) on nine hits in 5⅓ innings, coming off a June 7 outing when he allowed just two hits in five scoreless innings. He’s walked three batters in his three appearances, with 15 strikeouts. Needless to say, he remains a strongly viable option if the Brewers need a starter.

Craig Yoho

The right-handed reliever Yoho, who pitched in five games for the Brewers but was sent down after a blowup outing against the Chicago White Sox on May 1, has a 1.25 ERA in 20 games over his two stints in Nashville this year. That includes 27 strikeouts in 21⅔ innings and a WHIP of 1.20.

Yoho’s last two outings have been rocky. He allowed two hits — one deflected off him as he tried to make a backhanded stab — with a walk June 15 while getting two outs, though he picked up the win in relief for the Sounds. On June 12, he was charged with a blown save, allowing a double, triple, walk and an earned run in what became a 10-inning loss. Before that, though, Yoho had struck out five batters in three hitless June innings.

Bryan Hudson

The left-hander, a staple for the Brewers in last year’s bullpen and a borderline all-star candidate at midseason, last pitched for the Brewers on May 12, with a 4.35 ERA this year in 10⅓ innings. At Nashville, he’s posted a 3.86 ERA in 14 games, with a 1.43 WHIP. After getting 11 strikeouts in 7⅓ innings in May, he has just one punchout in 5⅓ innings in June, though the sample is obviously tiny.

He’s pitched on back-to-back days just once in Nashville — and it didn’t go well. He recorded two outs, walked two and eventually got charged with two earned runs June 12, although his final walk featured multiple pitches right on the fringe of the zone.

Elvis Peguero

Peguero, another regular in the Brewers bullpen last year, has thrown just 7⅓ innings for Milwaukee this season, but has fared well for the Sounds. He has a 2.35 ERA in 15 games, with 17 strikeouts in 15⅓ innings and six walks.

Joel Payamps

Payamps, designated for assignment by the Brewers and no longer part of the 40-man roster, wasn’t claimed on waivers and has stayed with the organization. He’s pitched four times for Nashville in June, allowing one earned run in four innings, with four strikeouts and one walk.

Elvin Rodríguez

It was an adventure this season at the big-league level for the offseason signing, with an 8.68 ERA in 18⅔ innings. It’s much calmer at Nashville, where he has a 2.70 ERA in 23⅓ innings (1.03 WHIP), with 20 strikeouts and just one walk.

Tyler Jay

Here’s one last name to know. Jay, a left-hander acquired last year before the trade deadline, has been sensational for the Sounds, posting a 0.86 ERA in 21 innings, with 18 strikeouts and 10 walks. He’s allowed just 13 hits.
