Two of the six Pizza Hut locations in Milwaukee have been cleared to re-open after temporarily being shut down by health officials.
The Milwaukee Health Department issued closure orders after learning stores had not yet received new food dealer licenses under new owners, PHZ, officials confirmed to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on May 2.
Officials later confirmed on May 9 licenses have been issued to two locations: 3921 S. 76th St. and 2340 N. Farwell Ave. They have also been cleared to re-open.
Food dealer licenses are legally required for any person or business selling, serving and storing food in Milwaukee, according to the Office of the City Clerk License Division.
A license has been issued for the 3555 S. 27th St. location, but officials did not indicate it was cleared to re-open. Meanwhile, the health department is waiting on re-inspection requests from the locations at 1840 S. 15th St. and 5704 W. Capitol Drive.
The Pizza Hut at 10400 W. Silver Springs Drive is being acquired by a new operator, PH Hospitality, officials said.
PHZ took control of Milwaukee’s Pizza Hut stores from EYM Pizza after the operator “relinquished control several weeks ago,” per the health department.
The chain’s Bay View location closed earlier this year.
