Halfway through the filing period for the 2026 Republican and Democratic primaries and candidates are emerging for your local vote.
While there are statewide candidates for the governorship and more in Texas, in Lubbock and West Texas, local offices will offer voters the opportunity to voice their support ahead of the 2026 General Election in November.
With the filing deadline being on Dec. 8, here’s a look at who has filed already in Lubbock County and for what seats/party, according to the Texas Secretary of State.
Texas 19th Congressional District (Lubbock & Abilene)
The district represents Lubbock and Abilene and is home to the Incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Jodey Arrington — Chairman of the House Budget Committee and architect of President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill.
However, he announced that he would not seek reelection, drawing local contenders to throw their hats into the ring but only one person has filed in the race — Democratic Candidate Kyle Rable of Lubbock.
It remains to be seen who else will announce their candidacy and file before the deadline.
