I don’t know if you’ve heard yet, but the Texas A&M football team pulled off the impossible, erasing a 27-point deficit in the second half against South Carolina while setting several records along the way.
Now, if you ask head coach Mike Elko, he would have preferred never to be in the position of needing such a comeback, but the Aggies proved themselves to be the kings of second-half adjustments. The victory marked the first time an SEC team overcame a 27+ point deficit in a conference game since 1992. Before their win, the record stood at 0-366, and this also became the biggest comeback in program history.
There were countless questions about what was said at halftime, and several times over the past few days, both Elko and starting quarterback Marcel Reed admitted it was a blur. Still, the vibes were strong, and they believed that if they stuck to their brand of blue-collar football, the game remained winnable.
Now, everything A&M hopes to accomplish in the postseason is directly in front of them, and if they can win these next two games, they will secure both a spot in the SEC title game and a top-four seed in the College Football Rankings.
Since Mike Elko’s arrival, the message has been G.R.I.N.D., teaching his team what it truly means to be finishers. With the culture transformed and strength and conditioning director Tommy Moffitt setting the tone in the weight room, the 2025 Aggies look like a completely different team. Even though the start wasn’t pretty, they showed they never wavered and carried the heart of champions.

Texas A&M will return to Kyle Field this weekend for Senior Day to face Samford, just one week after its historic comeback victory over the Gamecocks. Kickoff against the Bulldogs is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT and will be broadcast live on SEC Network+.
