It was just a week ago that the Texas A&M Aggies made Mike Elko one of the highest-paid coaches in college football, and now they’re extending the athletic director who has done a good job of keeping everything together in the athletic department.
On Friday, it was announced that athletic director Trev Alberts will sign a new six-year contract with the Aggies, keeping him in College Station until 2031. The new deal was approved by the Texas A&M System Board of Regents during a special telephonic meeting earlier today.
“As we navigate the changing college athletics landscape, Trev Alberts’ professionalism, knowledge and business-minded approach is just what we need to compete boldly in the future,” said interim Texas A&M president Tommy Williams in a statement.
Alberts, a former first-round NFL draft pick and ESPN broadcaster, has been at the helm of A&M athletics since March 13, 2024. He has helped usher the Aggies into a new era of college football and been a strong point in the athletic department over the past two years.
