The Kemp Center for the Arts will be hosting a grand opening family day 10-noon Saturday for its latest Artzeum.
The Artzeum is a free interactive kids exhibit with this year’s theme, “Secret Garden,” and offering opportunities for children to learn about all things gardening.
Located in the upstairs gallery space of the Kemp Center, the exhibit consists of different stations such as language arts learning, visual arts and music.
“We’re really proud of this exhibit because it is unique to Wichita Falls. It’s unique to us and not a traveling exhibit,” said Kristine Thueson, the arts and education programming director at the Kemp Center for the Arts.
The family day will be designed around the exhibit, focusing on gardening and the importance of gardening in art.
Several community partners such as local beekeepers, the Wichita Falls Public Library, United Way, Home Depot and others will be in attendance to provide resources and creative gardening crafts for kids and their families. The family day is free.
Last year’s Artzeum family day saw a turnout of nearly 250 people.
The Secret Garden Artzeum will be on display throughout the summer during the Kemp Center’s business hours: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
