An Iowa Park man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for possession of child pornography, court records show.
David Hobbs Ray pleaded guilty in 78th District Court to 11 child pornography counts on June 13, court documents show.
Ray, 35, did not enter a plea bargain but rather pleaded guilty and left it up to 78th District Judge Meredith Kennedy to decide his punishment, court records show. She sentenced him to 15 years in prison, making a 5-year sentence and a 10-year sentence consecutive and the rest concurrent.
Possession of child pornography is a third degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
Ray, who was 33 at the time, was arrested on July 27, 2023, by Iowa Park Police who had searched his apartment in the 700 block of Johnson Road.
According to documents filed in the case, Ray told officers where to find child pornography on his electronic devices.
Wichita County Jail records show he was freed on bail on Aug. 8, 2023, and was jailed again immediately after his plea to the third degree felonies.
