Dallas Cowboys news today: CeeDee Lamb says he can hold his liquor

A half week after Dallas receivers CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens were benched for three plays, setting off a media firestorm because this is the Cowboys, more details have come out.

These details are from someone who should know, Lamb, who copped to one misdeed while denying another.

Meanwhile, a mock draft has come out that has Dallas taking an offensive player. And there has been another turn on Dak Prescott’s hip injury (a turn for the better).

As the Sunday game with NFC East rival Philadelphia looms and Dallas circles the wagons for a last stand, here is what they are doing.

CeeDee Lamb: Knows how to hold liquor

The one-possession benching of Dallas receivers CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens to start the game against the Las Vegas Raiders created so much gossip that Lamb finally came out to clarify exactly what happened.

He missed curfew but took umbrage that anything worse than that happened. His explanation to reporters, which would jibe with a three play benching, is that he and Pickens were at Red Rock Casino, which isn’t on the Strip, having dinner and drinks when they missed the team’s Sunday-night 10 p.m. check-in.

Of course the rumor mill was more creative, with non-credible reports saying Lamb was spotted throwing up at 7:30 a.m. Lamb took umbrage with that, noting that he doesn’t throw up when he drinks.

As Dallas Morning News reporter Calvin Watkins reported, Lamb said he knows how to “hold his liquor.”

Here’s the X post from Watkins: “CeeDee Lamb said he & George Pickens missed curfew before the game at Las Vegas. The two were having dinner and a few drinks at @redrockcasino Lamb denied he was throwing up at the casino. He said it’s a disrespect to even suggest that. Lamb said he knows how to hold his liquor.”

He also knows how to catch a football. Lamb bounced back from his benching to have five catches for 66 yards and a touchdown against the Raiders.

Dallas Cowboys mock draft: An RB with the top pick?

ESPN’s draft analyst Matt Miller has a new mock draft out and it sends Dallas in a way most fans wouldn’t expect: a value pick at No. 13 where they pick up a running back.

This isn’t just any running back, it’s Notre Dame’s Jeremiyah Love, widely considered one of the top players in the draft, but one likely to slip because of his position.

Miller’s point: “It’s unlikely that Love will still be available at this pick come April, but we’ve seen teams pass on elite running backs because of positional value. I think Love is one of the three best players in the class and an RB prospect on par with Bijan Robinson or Saquon Barkley. Love would be a dream come true for the Cowboys, whose No. 1 running back (Javonte Williams) is set to be an unrestricted free agent.”

Miller has Dallas going a conventional route with the 24th pick (part of the Micah Parsons trade) and taking edge rusher Damon Wilson II from Missouri.

He writes: “Dallas could use a player like Wilson off the edge after trading away Micah Parsons and rebuilding the interior defensive line by trading for defensive tackles Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark.”

Dallas Cowboys injury report: What is Dak Prescott’s status now?

Not that Cowboy fans should have been panicking, but a day after being limited in practice because of a hip injury, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was listed as full participation at Thursday’s practice.
