Cold front coming to San Angelo this week, temperatures rising Halloween night

A cold front is coming to San Angelo this week, but temperatures will start to rise just in time for Halloween, according to the National Weather Service.

Meteorologist, Stephen Kearney said a cold front is coming in early Tuesday morning with high temperatures dropping to the 70s.

“This is our first strong cold front of the season. It will be a nice relief for us,” Kearney said. “Normal temperatures around this time are in the upper 70s. Its a few degrees cooler than normal but not unusual.”

There will also be strong winds Tuesday and Wednesday with wind gusts as high as 30 mph. The lowest temperatures are expected Wednesday night going into Thursday morning.

“It will be a chilly morning (Thursday) with temperatures close to freezing,” Kearney said. “Halloween (Friday) will have a high of 75 with light wind, a typical fall day. Temperatures will drop around 7 p.m. to the upper 60s for trick-or-treaters.”

San Angelo also saw some rain over the weekend.

Kearney said the airport saw just under an inch of rain while some areas in the northwest got over 2 inches.

Tuesday: Sunny with a high near 72. Breezy with a west northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.

Tuesday night: Clear with a low around 43. North wind 5 to 15 mph with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny with a high near 64. North to northwest wind 10 to 15 mph with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Wednesday night: Clear with a low around 34. North to northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Thursday: Sunny with a high near 69. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Thursday night: Clear with a low around 39. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Friday: Sunny with a high near 75. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the morning.

Friday night: Mostly clear with a low around 46. South wind around 5 mph.

Saturday: Sunny with a high near 76.

Saturday night: Clear with a low around 47.

Sunday: Sunny with a high near 83.
