Austin bartender up for US Bartender of the Year at 2025 Spirited Awards in New Orleans

Two local luminaries in the Austin cocktail scene have earned spots on the Top 10 U.S. Nominees list for the Tales of the Cocktails’ 19th annual Spirited Awards. Amanda Jones of Nickel City was recognized for U.S. Bartender of the Year, while the recently opened Papercut garnered a nomination for Best New U.S. Cocktail Bar, putting Austin firmly on the national beverage map.

The Spirited Awards, presented by the Tales of the Cocktail Foundation (TOTCF), are regarded as one of the most prestigious honors in the global spirits and cocktail industry.

Amanda Jones’ nomination for U.S. Bartender of the Year acknowledges her skill, creativity, and dedication to the craft, reflecting the caliber of behind the bar talent at establishments like Nickel City. The East 11th Street bar landed at number 70 on the extended ranking of North America’s 50 Best Bars 2025 earlier this year.
