Carroll High School Principal Robert Arredondo is leaving his position in mid-December.
Arredondo has accepted a position with a district outside of the area, according to a news release from the Corpus Christi Independent School District.
Russell Whitehead will serve as interim principal, effective in January 2026. Whitehead is a substitute administrator with experience as a middle school principal and substitute administrator at all levels in Corpus Christi ISD.
“Mary Carroll High School will be in good hands with their strong, existing campus leadership team and with Mr. Whitehead, a respected leader who has thorough familiarity with our district,” Superintendent Roland Hernandez said in the news release. “We look forward to a great spring semester for our Tigers.”
The district will post the position for a permanent leader to be named ahead of the 2026-27 school year.
Arredondo has led Carroll High School since 2021, including during the school’s move to a new campus. Arredondo was previously a principal at Dawson Elementary School and was a dean at Veterans Memorial High School.
“Mr. Arredondo comes from an esteemed family of educators with a long history of service to our district,” Hernandez said. “We thank him for his enthusiastic devotion to our district and wish him the very best in this next stage of his education career.”
