The Cincinnati Bengals are set for their second Thanksgiving Day game ever and their first time playing on the holiday in 15 years, facing off against a division opponent and joining a slate of recurring Thanksgiving teams.
Entering a Nov. 23 home game against the New England Patriots, the Bengals are 3-7. Though a potential return for star quarterback Joe Burrow is on the horizon after he participated in 11-on-11 drills for the first time since returning to practice. Burrow has been sidelined since suffering a toe injury in Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Bengals’ only game on Thanksgiving before 2025 was on Nov. 25, 2010, when they lost to the New York Jets 25-10. With Rex Ryan as head coach, the Jets overcame a 7-3 halftime deficit and scored two touchdowns in the third quarter to get past the Bengals, who fell to 2-9 after the game and finished the season with a 4-12 record.
The Bengals join a holiday slate of NFL games featuring the Detroit Lions, who have played 85 Thanksgiving games, and the Dallas Cowboys, who have played 57 times on the holiday.
