Ryan Day provides encouraging comments on Jeremiah Smith, Carnell Tate

We continue to get encouraging news when it comes to the injury status of Ohio State star wide receivers Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate. Both have been dealing with undisclosed injuries, with the status of both up in the air.

Earlier this week, OSU head coach Ryan Day said they are trending the right way, and on Wednesday, he doubled down, sort of. Though Day is never one to provide significant injury updates, he was asked again on the status of the star duo, and though he didn’t speak to it directly, he did say come back with a response that should make Buckeye Nation optimistic.

“No, (on providing an update)” the Ohio State coach said. “But we did have a good day. Everybody was out there. We’ll see how the next 48 hours go.”

It’s not much, but it’s a nugget of hope that Smith, Tate, and Lorenzo Styles Jr. will all be able to play against Michigan on Saturday. Add that to Smith claiming that he’d be “good to go” on Saturday while appearing on the Downs 2 Business podcast, and all signs are pointing to Ohio State being pretty healthy in trying to stop the four-game losing streak to Michigan.

There are still a couple of days to go before the game, so things could change, but this all sounds good. We’ll see how they all hold up with some weather that is also being called for in Ann Arbor.
