New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye established a new career-high with 294 passing yards in the team’s NFL Week 12 game against the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium.
Maye was facing the Bengals for the first time in his career. Jacoby Brissett, now with the Arizona Cardinals, started at QB for the Pats’ stunning win against the Bengals in Week 1 of the 2024 season.
Maye’s previous personal best in a game was 287 yards in the Pats’ season-opening loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.
“I don’t even know what show he’s on,” Maye said of former NFL QB Cam Newton’s remarks on ESPN’s “First Take” that the Patriots are “fool’s gold.” “I think they get paid to make remarks and make certain comments. We’re just worried about what people in our organization think, and worried about what we think, and my teammates think. Everybody’s gonna have different opinions, so we just gotta go out there on Sunday and worry about ourselves.”
Maye entered Week 12 leading all NFL quarterbacks in passing yardage this season with 2,836 yards through 11 games.
