A series of criminal events led to a Cleveland man’s arrest on June 13, according to the Medina County Sheriff’s Office.
The 29-year-old was involved in chases by multiple law enforcement agencies over two days, including one where his vehicle was shot at by a Medina Township police officer.
The man has been charged with felonious assault on a police officer, Medina County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Eric Bors said via email on June 16. He is being held in the Medina County Jail.
What happened?
Medina Township police on June 12 began to pursue the 29-year-old suspect, who had a felony warrant for assault on a police officer, according to a news release from the Medina County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect, who was driving a beige Toyota Camry, traveled off road in Sharon Township to bypass a road closure, per the release. While the chase continued off road, a Medina Township police officer tried to apprehend him and the suspect attempted to use his Camry to strike the officer, the release said.
The officer then shot at the suspect, who fled south and escaped, per the release.
Medina County Sheriff’s deputies apprehended the 29-year-old during a separate chase on June 13 with assistance from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Wooster Police Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol and the U.S. Marshals Service, Bors said.
