High school football scores. See who won Cincinnati's Week 7 games

Playoff atmospheres might be creeping in, but it is only Week 7 of the high school football season in Cincinnati.

The Greater Catholic League-South title will be decided when 5-1 Moeller visits 6-0 Elder at The Pit. Just off their first loss of the season, the Middletown Middies host 4-2 Lakota East in the Greater Miami Conference. Madeira, sitting tied atop the Cincinnati Hills League standings, will get another test on the road at Wyoming.

Princeton 28, Hamilton 16

Hamilton struck first and gave Princeton the Vikings’ closest GMC contest yet, but the first-place Vikes improved to 6-0 in conference with a 28-16 victory.

The Big Blue had a 7-0 lead with 7:21 left in the opening quarter before Princeton scored three-straight touchdowns on a Landen Miree reception and two Andrew Wells runs. Hamilton cut the lead to 21-13 with 1:24 on an 85-yard pass from Elijah Jones to Jordan Bryant. Princeton had a 71-yard touchdown run by David Hambrick and Hamilton could only muster a field goal in the second half.

Hambrick was 3-for-3 passing for 36 yards and a touchdown while running 20 times for 140 yards. Wells ran three times for nine yards, scoring twice. For Hamilton on offense, Bryant caught four passes for 143 yards and two scores.

Hamilton’s defense forced three Princeton turnovers, including two fumbles and an interception by D.J. Bryant.

Oak Hills 48, Sycamore 10

Oak Hills dominated Sycamore on the road to pick up its fourth win of the year, matching its win total from last season.

Only one of the Highlanders’ seven touchdowns was from fewer than 20 yards out and two were from 55 or more yards away.

Oak Hills receiver Cordell Ball caught five passes for 177 yards and three touchdowns of 35, 39 and 55 yards. Quarterback Lincoln Schreiber was 7-of-9 for 176 yards and three touchdowns. Aaron McFarland, who had a rushing and receiving score, had one pass for a 35-yard touchdown. Sophomore Tyson Watt had an 80-yard touchdown on his only run of the day.

Sophomore defensive lineman Immanuel Conner registered 4.5 sacks. Sycamore was held to 159 yards of offense. Aviator quarterback Ty Thomas was 9-for-16 passing for 100 yards. Damonta Burton had the team’s only touchdown.

Fairfield 14, Mason 13 (OT)

A low-scoring affair at Fairfield needed one extra period of overtime to decide a winner between the Indians and the visiting Mason Comets.

Fairfield scored first on a Mason Wheeler run with 4:07 left in the first quarter and held on to a 7-0 lead for nearly three whole quarters. Mason tied the game 7-7 when Alex Nagel found the endzone on an eight-yard run with 4:45 left in regulation.

Fairfield took the first shot in overtime, taking a 14-7 lead on a Corrious Booker run and Hunter Gagen extra point. Mason scored on its drive with a Brandon Birdsong run. The Comets went for two points and the win, but quarterback Alex Nagel was tripped up quickly on the keeper.

Mason senior quarterback De’Angelo Birch was 0-for-5 with an interception and Nagel, a sophomore, made his first passing attempts of the year. Nagel was 3-for-7 for 25 yards passing while rushing 25 times for 80 yards.

Fairfield’s Dominic Back was 12-for-22 for 125 yards passing and 24 more on the ground. Booker led the team with 36 yards rushing.

Lakota West 48, Colerain 9

Lakota West dominated Colerain 48-9, jumping its record to back over .500 at 4-3 overall.

The Firebirds led 45-7 at halftime and only added one more Kofi Adubofuor field goal in the second half with the clock running. Colerain scored in the second quarter on an 80-yard pass from Roman Garr to Desean Flagg Jr., but Lakota West responded immediately with a 92-yard kick return by Chris Bradley. The Firebirds then scored on 36 and 59-yard passes in the quarter.

Firebirds quarterback Jackson Smith was 8-for-12 passing for 179 yards and three touchdowns, also rushing for 34 yards and another score. Colerain had a pair of 100-yard receivers in Flagg Jr. and Aaron Jacobs. Garr was 15-for-23 for 255 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions.

St. Xavier 17, Louisville Trinity 14

One of Kentucky’s top big school teams took another trip to Cincinnati and again fell, losing to St. Xavier 17-14.

The Bombers took a 17-0 lead three seconds into the second quarter when Owen Davidson drilled a 25-yard field goal. St. Xavier had already scored twice in the opening quarter on a blocked punt and a Daniel Vollmer reception.

Trinity hit the scoreboard four minutes before the half and cut St. Xavier’s lead to three on a touchdown with 6:49 left in the third quarter. Neither team scored again, allowing the Bombers their first win after dropping two-straight to Elder and Moeller.

Bomber quarterback Jackson Frey was 14-for-25 with 176 yards and the touchdown to Vollmer. Vollmer rushed 14 times for 42 yards and caught five passes for 59 yards. Northwestern commit Brayden Reilly had an interception on defense.

Both of Trinity’s losses this year have been three-point losses to GCL-South programs. The Shamrocks lost to Moeller 24-21 on Sept. 5.

Lebanon 37, Milford 21

The ground game belonged to Lebanon on both sides of the ball as the Warriors rushed for 201 yards and four touchdowns while limiting Milford to just 61 rushing yards.

Logan Schmenk ran for 95 yards and a touchdown for Lebanon followed by Mason Reed’s 82 yards and a touchdown. Daniel Wallce managed 47 yards and scored on the ground twice. Wallace also connected on an 85-yard touchdown pass to Wyatt Lassen for the game’s first score.

For Milford, Jayden Bodley was 10-for-20 for 116 yards, a touchdown pass to Karson Long and an interception. Jake Dixon scored for the Eagles on the ground.

Defensively, Marshall Fields had three tackles for loss for Lebanon, including two of the team’s five sacks. Fields also forced a fumble.

Williamsburg 27, Roger Bacon 13

Trailing at halftime on the road, undefeated Williamsburg scored three-straight touchdowns in the second half to come from behind and beat Roger Bacon 27-13.

Less than two minutes into the second half, Williamsburg scored on an 11-yard pass from Carson Tenhundfeld to Grady Barber to take a 14-13 lead. Gray Robinson and Troy Harris had rushing scores after to lock in the 27-13 final.

Robinson had 222 rushing yards on 27 runs and two scores. Tehhundfeld was 10-of-13 for 82 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions through the air. Roger Bacon quarterback Bubba Smart was 14-of-28 for 180 yards and two touchdowns to Evan Otto and Liam Vargo.

A week after dropping its first game of the season, Middletown has found itself in a defensive battle against Lakota East. Up 7-6 in the third quarter, the Middies added on with a Demetrian James touchdown run, going up 14-6.

Taft shuts out Hughes 41-0 to improve to 7-0

The Taft Senators are 7-0 for the year after a 41-0 shutout win over Hughes. It is the fourth-straight shutout win and fifth of the season for Taft. The Senators are outscoring opponents 326-34 this season.

Elder has 15-13 halftime lead over Moeller

In the GCL South championship game, Elder goes into the break at The Pit with a 15-13 lead. Elder took a 15-7 lead with 1:03 left in the half after a safety and touchdown pass. Moeller responded in one play with a 58-yard score to cut the lead to two points.

Wyoming has 28-7 halftime lead over first-place Madeira

Madeira and Indian Hill share first place in the CHL with 3-0 conference marks, but Wyoming has a 28-7 halftime lead over the Mustangs. Wyoming (5-1, 2-1 CHL with a loss to Indian Hill) is tied for third in the conference with Deer Park.

Walnut Hills leads West Clermont 20-0 at halftime

The Walnut Hills Eagles are in position to be the latest team to snap a long streak. Walnut Hills leads West Clermont 20-0 at halftime and could win its first ECC game since September 2021, ending a 38-game losing streak against conference opponents.
