CANTON TWP. – Larry Tausch is expected to be named Canton Local Schools’ new superintendent.
The Board of Education is expected to approve the appointment at its board meeting at 6 p.m. June 16.
Tausch would take over for Brett Yeagley, who will become the new superintendent at Lake Local Schools upon Kevin Tobin’s retirement.
Tausch joins a growing list of leadership changes in Stark County area schools, including Tim Walker, who is taking over for retiring North Canton Superintendent Jeff Wendorf and Mark Scott, who was named as retiring Minerva Superintendent Gary Chaddock’s replacement.
“I am honored to join the Canton Local community and look forward to building strong relationships with students, staff and families,” he said. “Together, we will continue the district’s positive momentum and focus on preparing every student for success.”
Tausch has served as principal at Northwest High School since 2016. He also has served as principal at Northwest Middle School and Apple Creek Elementary.
During his nearly 30 years in education, he also taught language arts in Plain Local Schools and coached multiple sports, including wrestling, track and football.
“We are excited to welcome Larry to Canton Local Schools,” board President Tom Kovesci said. “His proven leadership, commitment to students and well-rounded experience make him the right person to lead our district forward.”
