Anyone associated with the colors of Scarlet and Gray or Maize and Blue is consumed with The Game coming up Saturday in Ann Arbor, but it’s getting awfully close to the start of the early signing period for football recruiting. In fact, that begins on December 3 and goes through December 5, so we are bound to get more and more recruiting news leading up to it all.
On that note, Ohio State has flipped a three-star defensive lineman from LSU, according to social media reports.
Out of Acadiana High School in Lafayette, Louisiana, Darryus McKinley is ranked as the No. 73 defensive lineman and 600th overall prospect in the 2026 class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s listed at 6-foot, 3-inches and weighs 270 pounds. He played mostly defensive end in high school, but once he gets in the weight and nutrition program with Mickey Marotti, he has the frame to develop into an interior lineman, should that be the way the coaches want to go.
The three-star profile won’t excite a bunch of folks out there, but with teams like LSU and Tennessee after him for his services, and with the Ohio State coaches locking him in late, you can bet that the coaches believe there’s a higher ceiling there than what the recruiting services think.
With the commitment, OSU now has six defensive linemen committed and a total of 28 players in the 2026 class, one that currently ranks as the sixth in the country according to the 247Sports Team Composite rankings heading into the early signing period. And yeah, there could be more news on the way.
