The public benching saga for the Cincinnati Bengals continued this week when Zac Taylor sat down cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt on the inactives list for the win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Funnily enough, as that was happening, Taylor-Britt’s name was making the rounds in outside trade speucation.
ESPN’s Bill Barnwell, for example, suggested the Bengals send Taylor-Britt to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for a seventh-round pick and cornerback Noah Igbinoghene:
“Although the former Dolphins first-round pick played 26 snaps in Week 3 against the Raiders, Igbinoghene has been limited to 10 defensive snaps across Washington’s five other games. With $780,000 left on his deal and free agency looming after the season, there’s no real benefit to having the 25-year-old on the bottom of the roster if he’s not going to play on defense, as Igbinoghene is only an occasional special-teamer.”

Taylor-Britt took the media after his benching and stressed how he wants to improve and get back on the field, which Bengals coaches sound open to right now.
But one has to think that Taylor-Britt has worn out his welcome and the front office would raise an eyebrow at getting anything in return for his eventual departure at this point.
The biggest negative to taking a gamble on a CTB trade right now would be the fact the Bengals are still alive, so giving away a cornerback who at least knows the system could put them at a depth disadvantage.
But getting something in return and a player who might fit the system better over the long run before attacking cornerback and safety in the offseason would make a lot of sense, too, should this offer come up.
