The New York Jets are turning the page to the start of the 2025 NFL season.
Following an offseason filled with changes all across the organization, this season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers is highly anticipated.
But before we even get to kickoff, there will be a lot of Jets-related discussions and conversations to be had throughout the coming days.
With that, here are five storylines to watch for during the lead up to Jets against the Pittsburgh Steelers:
Rodgers… duh
While this game was not picked for a prime-time slot in Week 1, it is the premier Week 1 contest on the schedule at 1 p.m. … all because of Aaron Rodgers.
The former Jets quarterback will face his former team. It’s going to be the No. 1 topic in headlines throughout the coming days.
And don’t forget, Fields too
Because of Rodgers being such a polarizing player, this is being overlooked. Don’t forget: Jets quarterback Justin Fields will be facing his former team, too.
Week 1 injury focus
The injury report is still a factor for the Jets before a game is even played.
The team has multiple players who have been “expected” to return for Week 1. The likes of quarterback Tyrod Taylor (knee) backing up Fields is noteworthy, plus Jermaine Johnson’s status returning from his season-ending injury. They are names to keep an eye on throughout this week’s injury report.
Aaron Glenn’s first go
With such juicy headlines, it gets lost a bit. This game is Aaron Glenn’s head coaching debut with the Jets. He’s going to discuss that this week and will be plenty motivated to begin his career with a win… as will his players.
The rookies
Naturally in Week 1, the top rookies are intriguing players to keep in mind. There will be nerves, but the likes of tight end Mason Taylor and offensive tackle Armand Membou are making their debuts. How will they fare and what is their approach?
