Lloyd hotel domestic dispute leads to attempted murder charge

New York State Police reported a domestic dispute at a hotel on U.S. Route 9W in the Town of Lloyd earlier in November led to a charge of attempted murder.

State police said troopers from their Highland barracks responded to the hotel just before 4 p.m. on Nov. 17.

A resulting investigation revealed Mark H. Cannon, 32, of Highland, allegedly engaged in a physical altercation with a 56-year-old woman at the hotel.

During the incident, Cannon allegedly repeatedly struck the woman, causing serious physical injury.

Cannon subsequently was indicted by an Ulster County grand jury on one count of attempted second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault and one count of second-degree assault, all felonies, and one count of second-degree obstructing governmental administration, a misdemeanor.

Cannon was arraigned in Ulster County Court and sent to the Ulster County jail pending further court action. State police did not report on whether a judge set bail and, if so, how much.

The name of Cannon’s attorney was not immediately available.
