Kayvon Thibodeaux continues to sit out as New York Giants injury report grows

The New York Giants took the field on Thursday for their second of three practices ahead of a Week 15 game against the Washington Commanders at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. EST.

Beforehand, the team’s three coordinators addressed reporters, and then interim head coach Mike Kafka briefly spoke.

They updated the status of several injured players, including punter Jamie Gillan, who was sidelined on Wednesday after suffering a knee injury in a botched field goal attempt against the New England Patriots.

“I know Jamie’s going to do everything in his power to play. He’s tough, he wants an opportunity to obviously respond after last game as well,” special teams coordinator Michael Ghobrial said.

Meanwhile, return man Gunner Olszewski remains in concussion protocol, and wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud was released from the practice squad this week.

“Full confidence in Ihmir (Smith-Marsette). I’ve said it before, you guys have heard me, Ihmir is a true pro. He did a great job for us last year. He would relish the opportunity to play in this game, and I know he would do a great job,” Ghobrial said.

Finally, linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux remained sidelined with trainers and appears unlikely to play in Week 15.
