Jets will get one shot at Aaron Rodgers revenge

The Aaron Rodgers era could go down as the most disappointing era of New York Jets football. After two lackluster seasons filled with toxicity, the new regime quickly severed ties with the future Hall of Fame quarterback. After contemplating retirement this offseason, Rodgers decided to sign a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Knowing Rodgers was leaning towards joining the Steelers, the NFL schedule makers made them the Jets’ Week 1 opponent. It now appears as if it’ll represent the Jets’ only revenge game opportunity. Rodgers confirmed 2025 will likely be his final season via a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.

“Yeah, I’m pretty sure this is it,” Rodgers said in response to a question about retirement. “That’s why we did a one-year deal. This is about finishing with a lot of love, fun, and peace for the career I’ve had. I’ve played for 20 years. It’s been a long run and I’ve enjoyed it. What better place to finish than with one of the cornerstone franchises of the NFL?”

Rodgers’ one-year agreement with the Steelers is for $14.1 million. There aren’t any void years. Rodgers took several months before joining the Steelers, indicating he was legitimately weighing retirement.

Jets fans will always hold disdain for Rodgers. The pending Week 1 showdown versus the Steelers just got even more special. Hopefully Coach Aaron Glenn has something special prepared for Rodgers.
