Jets' John Metchie credits score vs. Ravens to Tyrod Taylor's passion

John Metchie has started his New York Jets career on a high and continued that against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 12.

Despite the Jets (2-9) losing a 23-10 final against the Ravens (6-5), Metchie was a bright spot.

Metchie played in his second game with the Jets in Baltimore. Ahead of the 2025 NFL trade deadline on Nov. 4, Metchie came to New York via a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.

In those two outings, Metchie has scored in both and against the Ravens he had a team-high six catches on seven targets for 65 yards.

The latest game was an improvement from Metchie’s debut in New York as well. In doing so, Metchie credited quarterback Tyrod Taylor with helping make that happen.

Metchie said Taylor took extra time during the week ahead of the contest to make sure they were on the same page.

“It’s a good feeling, just guys that are passionate about the craft and getting up to speed,” Metchie said after the game.

Taylor himself was making the start under center after Justin Fields was benched. Taylor’s efforts made the Jets offense look much better despite the outcome as he was 17-for-28 passing for 222 yards, his touchdown to Metchie and an interception.

Taylor mentioned the extra effort put in with Metchie (and fellow new receiver AD Mitchell) following Sunday’s game as well.
