Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins: 5 things to watch for in Week 3

The Buffalo Bills have started their 2025 NFL season. Their next outing is against the Miami Dolphins in Week 3 at Highmark Stadium on “Thursday Night Football.”

All week, topics and storylines have been discussed ahead of this battle between AFC East foes. In the end, regardless of what is said by players, coaches, media outlets and fans, it always comes down to what unfolds on the field in the NFL.

And once the battle arrives, there will be a few particular things to keep in mind to look out for.

With that, here are five things to watch for during the Bills (2-0) versus Dolphins (0-2) in Week 3:

Allen rolling vs. the Dolphins

Bills quarterback Josh Allen beats up on the Dolphins more than any team. He’s 13-2 against them and Miami head coach Mike McDaniel is 0-4 against Buffalo. McDaniel is on the hot seat and his team is a double-digit underdog. Could this be a long day for the Dolphins?

Cook factor

While Allen is always a factor against the Dolphins, Miami’s run defense has not been good so keep an eye on running back James Cook. The Dolphins have allowed 156 and 122 rushing yards in their first two games, respectively.

Bills secondary

In Week 2’s blowout of the New York Jets, the Buffalo’s secondary was not tested. The Jets and quarterback Justin Fields were just… bad.

Despite an 0-2 start, the Dolphins and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa throw the ball much, much better. It will be a tougher test for a previously worrisome Bills defensive backfield.

Is Bosa for real?

Joey Bosa had a sack and forced fumble against the Jets.

The Bills have wanted to find an excellent veteran to come off the edge in recent years. They failed to find it in Von Miller because of injury.

Can Bosa double up on another big game and prove he’s that answer?

Let’s talk kickers

It’s not the biggest of things to watch, but veteran kicker Matt Prater… has been good. If he keeps it up with Tyler Bass on injured reserve, there could be another conversation to have soon.
