The Army football team takes its 2-3 record into a Saturday noon ET third home contest with Charlotte (1-4) — it will be the first meeting between the two schools, and first as members of the American Conference.
Army is winless in two home games this season (Tarleton State, North Texas) – the last time the Black Knights lost three in a row at Michie Stadium was 2023 (Boston College, Troy, Massachusetts).
Despite the two earlier setbacks this season, Army coach Jeff Monken said home games are easier to manage than road contests.
“Removing the travel, it allows us to have our entire football team to work out with us and to walk through with us on what would be a travel day. … I think that helps,” he said. “Having access to more guys on special teams, depths and those kinds of things, I think are valuable. Sleeping in a familiar hotel. Just that consistency being in our own locker room, being in familiar settings.”
Charlotte will be appearing in only its second road contest of the season, although the opener against Appalachian State was a neutral site game in the Carolina Panthers’ Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
The Black Knights are coming off a 31-13 win at Alabama Birmingham on Oct. 4. Charlotte is coming off 54-26 loss at South Florida on Oct. 3.
