When is Des Moines' Hy-Vee Holiday Parade? What to know for its debut:

Des Moines’ first holiday parade is making its debut to kick off the holiday season following Thanksgiving.

West Des Moines-based grocer Hy-Vee and WHO 13 will host the Hy-Vee Holiday Parade. The parade will have marching bands, dance teams, walking ball, floats and more.

When is the Hy-Vee Holiday Parade?

The Hy-Vee Holiday Parade is Saturday, Nov. 29, two days after Thanksgiving. The date also coincides with Small Business Saturday, in hopes of bringing thousands of Iowans to the downtown areas to explore local retailers and more, according to WHO 13.

Pre-parade coverage starts at 9 a.m. on WHO 13, and the parade starts at 10 a.m.

Where is the Hy-Vee Holiday Parade?

The parade starts at Principal Park in downtown Des Moines. The 1.25-mile-long route will go down Second Avenue to Court Avenue, then from Fifth Street to MLK Jr. Parkway. Then the parade will go down Third Street to end at Principal Park.

How to watch the Hy-Vee Holiday Parade

Get a front-row seat to the parade by finding some real estate along the route.

If you can’t make it to the parade, it will also be broadcast live on four Iowa TV stations:
