What to know about the Oct. 18 'No Kings' protests planned in Nebraska and across the country

More “No Kings” protests planned for Oct. 18 in as many as 2,500 communities across the country – including in Nebraska – will be part of what organizers say could be the largest single day of protest in modern U.S. history.

The first “No Kings” protests that took place across the country in June were billed as a “nationwide day of defiance” against President Donald Trump’s agenda.

Since then, organizers say, Trump has “doubled down” by escalating immigration enforcement and sending troops into several Democratic-controlled cities, while also making changes to health care and driving up the cost of living.

“The president thinks his rule is absolute,” organizers wrote on their website. “But in America, we don’t have kings and we won’t back down against chaos, corruption, and cruelty.”

While protests are expected in many of the country’s big cities, suburbs and small towns, there are anchor events planned outside the Capitol in Washington, DC, and in Boston, New York, Atlanta, Kansas City, San Francisco, Chicago, New Orleans and Bozeman, Montana, USA TODAY reported.
