Iowa State football lands former Oklahoma State 2026 quarterback commit Kase Evans

Iowa State football finally has its quarterback commit for the 2026 recruiting class. After losing four-star signal-caller Jett Thomalla to Alabama in June, the Cyclones have filled that vacancy with Kase Evans.

Evans is a three-star prospect, according to 247 Sports. He originally committed to Oklahoma State, but reopened his recruitment in the aftermath of Mike Gundy’s firing. Evans announced his decision on Oct. 12.

Evans is the No. 55-ranked quarterback nationally, per 247 Sports. A 6-foot-2, 198-pound quarterback, the Lexington, Texas native has enjoyed a standout varsity football career. He recently eclipsed the 10,000-yard career passing mark at Lexington High School.

Through the seven games as a fourth-year starter during his senior season, he completed 62.7% of passes for 1,406 yards, 22 touchdowns and only one interception. He also recorded 255 yards and three rushing touchdowns on 48 carries. He also reached his 100th career passing touchdown milestone earlier in the year.

As a junior during the 2024 season, he showed tremendous improvement from his sophomore campaign. Evans completed 61.2% of passes for 3,113 yards, 37 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

He comes from a family of athletes. His father, Chandler, played quarterback at the Division I level for Houston and Texas A&M-commerce. His mother, Kember, played volleyball at the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor. His grandfather, Bob, was a defensive end at Texas A&M, while his sister, Kynleigh, is currently a Division I softball player at Houston Christian.

With Evans’ commitment, the Cyclones currently have 18 commits in the Class of 2026. They had a few players decommit and flip to other schools during this recruiting cycle. Outside of Thomalla, defensive lineman Brysen Wessell (Missouri) and safety Brayden Thomas (Michigan State) chose new schools, while four-star Milan Parris reopened his recruitment.
