Over a dozen former Iowa and Iowa State football players in the NFL wore special cleats during Week 12 of the regular season as part of the league’s annual My Cause My Cleats campaign.
Since 2016, NFL teams have encouraged players to design custom cleats in partnership with a nonprofit or charitable organization for one designated week each season. The initiative has grown to include coaches, team staff and even on-air TV personalities, with more than 1,800 participants expected to sport personalized cleats or sneakers during Weeks 12 and 13 of the 2025 season, according to USA TODAY.
The shoes will be auctioned, with proceeds donated to each individual’s selected cause. Here are all the former Hawkeyes and Cyclones who switched up their footwear for My Cause My Cleats and the organizations they supported.
