Iowa football's Logan Jones named an Outland Trophy Finalist

After being named a semifinalist last week, Iowa football’s (7-4, 5-3 Big Ten) graduate senior center and team captain, Logan Jones, has officially been listed among the Outland Trophy finalists, according to the announcement made Tuesday, Nov. 25, by the Greater Omaha Sports Committee.

The Outland Trophy is presented annually to the nation’s best interior lineman on offense or defense, which Iowa has won four prior times (Brandon Scherff, 2014; Robert Gallery, 2003; Alex Karras, 1957; and Calvin Jones, 1955), had two previous finalists (Daviyon Nixon, 2020; and Tyler Linderbaum, 2021), and two semifinalists (Tristan Wirfs, 2019; and Mike Devlin, 1992).

The 6-foot-3, 302-pound native of Council Bluffs, Iowa, has started 48 career games and is the top-rated center in the country by Pro Football Focus, and anchors a Hawkeyes’ offensive line that is also a semifinalist for the Joe Moore Award.

Joining Jones on the list of finalists for the prestigious award are Utah’s offensive tackle Spencer Fano and Ohio State’s defensive tackle Kayden McDonald, both of whom have had excellent campaigns for their respective programs as well.

Given the six-day turnaround between the announcement of the semifinalists and the finalist reveal, the winner of the 2025 Outland Trophy will be named on Dec. 12.

As for Jones and the rest of the Iowa programs, they will play their regular-season finale against Nebraska (7-4, 4-4 Big Ten) on Friday, Nov. 28. Kickoff between the Hawkeyes and Cornhuskers from Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Neb., is set for 11 a.m. CT and will be broadcast on CBS.
