Iowa football legacy recruit to play in 2026 Navy All-American Bowl

As offers continue to flow in from premier college football programs, one of Iowa football’s prized 2027 recruits, four-star Jaxx DeJean, was presented with an invitation to the 2026 Navy All-American Bowl.

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound native of Odebolt, Iowa, is a multi-faceted star from Odebolt-Arthur-Battle Creek-Ida Grove High School (OABCIG), as he has operated as a quarterback, wide receiver and on defense.

Along with being the younger brother of former Hawkeyes legend and current Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Cooper DeJean, Jaxx is currently rated as the No. 307 overall prospect in the 2027 class, as the No. 17 athlete, and as the No. 3 recruit in the state of Iowa, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

“It means a lot just to get the opportunity to play with the best of the best on a big stage. It means a lot,” DeJean told 247Sports regarding his invitation. “I’m looking forward to learning from the best of the best and competing with the best of the best.”

While Iowa and many other schools are heavily recruiting DeJean as a tight end, the door remains open for him to play other positions, much like Cooper did at Iowa. In addition to Iowa, DeJean currently holds offers from Kansas State, Michigan, UAB and UNLV.

DeJean will attend scheduled game-day visits at Kansas State’s game on Oct. 11, followed by Iowa’s contest against Penn State on Oct. 18, Nebraska on Nov. 1, and Michigan on Nov. 29.

Given his upcoming visits planned throughout the next two months, DeJean is still working his way through the recruiting process and has yet to announce a timeframe for a decision.

“I have not decided on my commitment date yet,” DeJean said.

The 2026 Navy All-American Bowl will take place on Jan. 10 in San Antonio, Texas, and will be broadcast on NBC and Peacock at noon CT.

Notable alums of the game include Vince Young, Ted Ginn Jr., DeSean Jackson, Haloti Ngata, Adrian Peterson, Reggie Bush, Odell Beckham Jr., Stefon Diggs, Derrick Henry, Nick Chubb, Micah Parsons, Patrick Surtain II, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Cooper DeJean and current college stars like Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith and Oregon’s Dante Moore, among others.
