It all starts up front in Tim Lester’s offense for the Iowa Hawkeyes. The offensive coordinator enters his second season calling plays for the Hawkeyes, coming off a 2024 season that saw him elevate Iowa from the FBS cellar of offensive output to the middle of the pack.
Lester is looking to continue that climb and ascend Iowa into one of the better offenses in the Big Ten and all of college football this year with a more experienced offensive line and talented quarterback transfer, Mark Gronowski.
The offensive line talent starts right in the middle with the Hawkeyes’ highly-touted center Logan Jones. In 2024, Jones was part of the First-Team All-Big Ten, as selected by the media, and the Second-Team All-Big Ten, as selected by the coaches.
Those honors come from Jones’ incredibly strong year he had in 2024, which included some blocking streaks he brings into 2025.
According to Pro Football Focus, Jones had 280 pass blocking snaps and did not allow a single sack, while allowing just five total pressures.
Iowa’s leader on the offensive line, Logan Jones, also brings a mountain of experience. He is entering his fifth year with the Hawkeyes’ program. Jones has 38 starts under his belt, which gives him the experience of seeing defensive fronts and altering protection schemes on the fly.
Joined alongside Connor Colby and Gennings Dunker, the Iowa offensive line enters 2025 as one of the strengths of the roster and could once again be a unit that this team leans on to find success.
