Although his recruiting journey is still relatively early in its progression, Iowa basketball will soon host 2028 small forward recruit Cole Kelly in Iowa City on an unofficial visit.
The 6-foot-7, 190-pound wing from Naperville, Ill., currently stars for Neuqua Valley and is ranked as a four-star prospect, where Rivals lists him as the No. 43 overall prospect, No. 11 small forward, and No. 2 player in the state of Illinois in the 2028 class. While ESPN and 247Sports have not released their rankings just yet, Kelly is also regarded as the No. 14 overall prospect in the 2028 class by PrepHoops.

During the summer months, Kelly has excelled with Breakaway in the Adidas 3SSB Circuit, where he showcased natural scoring abilities with his smooth left-handed jumper and aggression on the glass.
So far, Kelly has received offers from DePaul, Drake, and fellow Big Ten foes Illinois and Nebraska. Of those four programs, the talented prospect has only unofficially visited the Cornhuskers. Obviously with the latest announcement, Illinois (Sept. 27), Missouri (Oct. 4), and Iowa (Oct. 18) will each get an unofficial visit in the near future.
While Iowa has yet to extend an offer, it would be shocking if Kelly left Iowa City empty-handed considering the recruitment activity by the Hawkeyes’ rivals and his sky-high potential to be one of the top 2028 recruits in the nation.
