The No. 9 Notre Dame Fighting Irish rolled over the Syracuse Orange so easily Saturday that reserves found themselves in the game in the second half.
Notre Dame safety Ethan Long, getting playing time because of the blowout, thought he had a pick-six but it was called back. Later on the same drive, Syracuse was threatening to score for the first time all day when Orange quarterback Joseph Filardi didn’t see that Long had read his eyes.
Long picked the pass off to kill the Syracuse drive and continue a dominant Notre Dame defensive effort.
