It was arguably the greatest quarter in Notre Dame football history on Saturday afternoon, as the Irish started its Senior Day contest against Syracuse with a 35-0 outburst.
The first 15-minutes against the Orange will be remember in Notre Dame’s history books, as the team hit multiple big milestones. First it as the first Irish team ever to score 35-points in the first quarter. The record for most points in a single quarter is 47, set all the way back in a 1914 win over Rose Poly.
Three of those touchdowns happened either on defense or special teams, which was the first time since 2002 against Purdue that Notre Dame has scored its first three times that way. Multiple other records were set, but those weren’t all including the first quarter.
It was one to remember and Notre Dame’s social media always has a good feel for what the fans want to see, and it delivered on Monday. They posted about a 2:30-minute clip of an inside look at the scoring outburst by the Irish.
