MUNCIE, IN — An open house at the Muncie Crisis Center, 809 W. Eighth St., is set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 19.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
A news release said the city of Muncie, with support from Meridian Health Services, is offering the center as “a community service designed to provide support and stabilization for people experiencing mental health or addiction crises.
“This new facility gives community members a safe place to talk with trained professionals who will assist them to work through challenges and connect to resources,” the release added.
The city bought the site, the former longtime location of Workman’s Bar, for $125,000 in March 2023. The building that housed the bar was demolished in January 2024.
