A member of the Indiana National Guard has died and three other members were injured in a vehicle crash on Interstate 65 near Whitestown, Indiana.
The crash occurred at about 12:15 p.m. Nov. 14 on the southbound lane of I-65 near the 129-mile marker, according to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office social media post.
The Indiana National Guard confirmed with Fox59 that four guardsmen were involved in the Humvee crash and that one had died. The condition of the other guardsmen wasn’t immediately available.
Images of the crash show the Humvee facing the opposite direction of traffic and slightly off the highway.
At the time of publication, it’s unclear what caused the crash and if additional people were injured in the crash.
IndyStar has reached out to the National Guard and Indiana State Police for additional information.
As of 2:15 p.m., all traffic on the southbound lanes of I-65 is being diverted, according to Indiana’s online Trafficwise map.
