Colts' OL Matt Goncalves not practicing Wednesday; spotted in a boot

Not practicing on Wednesday for the Indianapolis Colts was right guard Matt Goncalves.

According to several media members in attendance, Goncalves was wearing a boot on his right foot/ankle area.

Before practice, head coach Shane Steichen also provided updates on Kenny Moore and Alec Pierce.

A tackle in college and during his rookie year with the Colts, Goncalves moved to guard this offseason, a transition that has seemingly gone very smoothly for him.

Over 103 pass-blocking snaps this season, Goncalves has allowed just two pressures, according to Pro Football Focus.

Not only because of Goncalves, but the Colts’ offensive line play as a whole has been one of the under-the-radar catalysts to the offense’s early success.

The production that Jonathan Taylor has had in the run game helps keep the offense ahead of the sticks and out of predictable passing situations, while time in the pocket for the quarterback is the name of the game.

While it is always noteworthy when a player is out, especially when in a boot, Thursday’s practice status will give us a better idea of what Goncalves’ availability on Sunday could be.

Second-year player Dalton Tucker is the Colts’ backup guard.
