As the high school football tournament continues into the regional round, the games get bigger and so do the crowds – if there is room.
No. 1 Brownsburg, the defending champion in Class 6A, plays at last year’s 5A champion Decatur Central on Friday in one of the biggest games of the week. This is the first meeting between Brownsburg (11-0) and No. 8 Decatur Central (9-2) since 1993.
It will be a tough ticket. Decatur Central, which is playing in 6A due to the Indiana High School Association’s tournament success factor, only has room to accommodate 1,250 fans on the visiting side. The home side capacity can accommodate more than 2,000 fans.
Justin Dixson, the director of operations for Decatur Central, said the school will be the “absolute best hosts we can be.”
“Because the event is expected to be well attended, ticket sales are available up to capacity for the visitor and home sides of the stadium,” Dixson said. “To accommodate visitors, we have also taken the extra step of adding tickets to the visitor capacity for standing space. We pride ourselves on being a great host of IHSAA events and look forward to welcoming the Brownsburg community to a safe and orderly event.”
