Thanksgiving travel might be impacted by heavy rain and snow this year, according to nationwide forecasts.
This means nearly 82 million Americans could be affected as they take to the highways and the skies to visit loved ones. But how will Illinois weather fare?

Accuweather meteorologists told USA TODAY a large stormfront will move across the U.S. this week, bringing thunderstorms and rain to parts of the country. The storm is expected to reach the Midwest closer to Thanksgiving, possibly causing delays at Chicago airports by Tuesday.
Northern and central Illinois have a chance of seeing accumulating snow Thanksgiving weekend, according to the National Weather Service. Chicago may be hit Saturday into Saturday night, while central Illinois has a 20-40% chance of two or more inches of snow late Friday night into Saturday.
Chicago daily forecast
Monday: Cloudy with a high of 52 degrees and winds up to 20 mph. Rain likely after midnight (20% chance after 5 p.m.) with fog after 1 a.m. and a low of 46.
Tuesday: Patches of drizzles and fog before noon, with a high around 52 degrees and weak 5-10 mph winds. Mostly cloudy and breezy with showers at night and a low of 35.
Wednesday: A slight chance of snow showers before noon then a chance of snow flurries after noon. Mostly cloudy with winds up to 35 mph, a high around 37 degrees and a low around 26.
Thanksgiving: Mostly sunny and breezy during the day with a high around 33 degrees. Partly cloudy at night with a low near 22.
Friday: Mostly sunny during the day with a high around 33 degrees. A chance of snow after midnight with a low around 24.
Central Illinois daily forecast
Monday: Patchy fog before 10 a.m. and after 10 p.m., with showers in the evening and gusts up to 16 mph. A high around 53 degrees and a low of 47.
Tuesday: Patchy fog before 11 a.m. and rainy in the afternoon. A high around 58 degrees during the day, and a low near 33 with winds up to 34 mph in the evening.
Wednesday: Partly sunny and breezy with a high of 41 degrees and a low around 22.
Thanksgiving: Sunny and breezy with a high around 36 degrees and a low of 18.
Friday: Mostly sunny during the day with a high of 35 degrees. Cloudy with a 50% chance of snow in the evening with a low of 24.
