EAST PEORIA − Social Taco has closed.
According to Tazewell County Health Department food program manager Adam Bazzetta, the restaurant voluntarily closed between Aug. 26 and Sept. 4. Social Taco did not provide a reason for the closure and did not notify the health department, he added.

Booths sat outside of the establishment − situated at 900 Riverside Drive − on Tuesday, Sept. 9. Inside, the restaurant is being renovated for a new tenant, Los Charros Mexican Bar & Grill. Roberto Leon, who owns Los Charros, said the aim is to open in early December.
Before Social Taco’s closure, an Aug. 21 food inspection at the location noted 19 violations. The establishment was listed as Taco Yama, which Bazzetta confirmed is Social Taco’s parent company.
Social Taco opened in early 2022 and featured a diverse menu that included such offerings as chicken tikka masala, cheeseburger, kung pao, and authentic Mexican carnitas tacos.
